ShortTrack and Chrome Updates/Releases

ShortTrack and Chrome go together like PB & J especially when you keep Chrome up to date.

When Chrome is out of date, it can cause minor hanging or freezing issues when you you save or create an item in ShortTrack.  Chrome updates frequently so if you’re using ShortTrack on Chrome and experience any latency when you add a contact to a transaction, create a task or schedule a closing, try updating Chrome and see if that resolves the issue.

It’s super simple to update Chrome on a computer when needed.  Click this link to a Google support article on updating Chrome or view the instructions below:

Get a Chrome update when available

Normally updates happen in the background when you close and reopen your computer’s browser. But if you haven’t closed your browser in a while you might see the Chrome menu in the top right change colors:

Update Chrome A green menu means an update’s been available for 2 days.

Menu with update pending An orange menu means an update’s been available for 4 days.

Red menu A red menu means an update’s been available for 7 days.

To update Google Chrome:

  1. In the top right, click the Chrome menu Menu.
  2. Click Update Google Chrome. If you don’t see this button, you’re on the latest version.
  3. Click Relaunch.

The browser saves your opened tabs and windows and reopens them automatically when it restarts. If you’d prefer not to restart right away, click Not now. The next time you restart your browser, the update will be applied.


Manually check for Chrome updates:

Check for an update and see the current browser version on your computer

  1. Open Google Chrome on your computer.
  2. In the top right, click the Chrome menu Menu .
  3. Click Help > About Google Chrome.

The current version number is the series of numbers beneath the “Google Chrome” heading. Chrome will check for updates when you’re on this page.

Click Relaunch to apply any available update.
